The Alpine - Ayers Rock

"Meet me up on Ayers Rock"

It's kind of an embarassment of Scandinavian riches right now. In a two week period we get releases by Juvelen, Surferosa, The Alpine and a greatest hits by BWO. The Alpine's debut record was one of my favorite releases of 2006. This new one doesn't quite hit that mark (not yet, at least), but it's got a few worthy tracks. One of the early standouts is the synth funk of Ayers Rock. It's one of the best examples on the album of melody meeting production perfectly, which doesn't quite happen as often as it should. Usually it's one or the other. Anyways, if you're in the mood for something a bit slower and more epic, check out Volunteer Army, which is actually even better than this track.

Man, I am so disappointed with the new album :( So far only Youniverse and Ayers Rock are the only tracks that even come close to the awesomeness of On Feel Trips.

Agreed, though I've never been a fan of Youniverse. There's only a handful of tracks I really like on this new effort. What a shame.
