In honor of the extremely unnerving, pasty white Republican National Convention, I'm going to post an oldish song by Ima Robot today. I've recently rediscovered how amazing their 2006 Monument To The Masses album is, and I was listening to this track last night and thought it drew some parallels to the current election. Forgetting that, though, Stick It To The Man is a fantastic, energetic punk/pop/rock song that actually reminds me of The Ark in tone (though The Ark would obviously do it way better--and this is not a diss on Ima Robot, but you know how I feel about my Swedes). If you forgot to check these guys out last year, give them another look because the album is really quite good.

Since I'm sorta on a roll, here's yet another Australian band. Foxx On Fire's Polizia rides along on a stomping glam beat and a very Britpoppy melody. They also have a new single out called No Love In The City that's also very catchy. Instead of mining the 80's influence that a lot of my favorite Aussie bands are doing right now, these guys have a sound more reminiscent of the dancier pop/rock of the nineties. This is not to say they're boring, though! Far from it. Each of their tracks so far are very different from one another, which makes me believe that they could go off in all sorts of interesting directions as they progress.

Beki & The Bullets are yet another fantastic Australian band, but one that's recently moved to the States. Their music is pretty similar to Sweden's Alice In Videoland or, to go back in time, Bananarama meeting Cyndi Lauper. It's very 80's new wave but in an accessible, super-neon poppy way. There He Goes is a recording from 2005, but their myspace has also got a newer song up for free download that's definitely worth checking out as well. If you're a fan of popjustice-type music, this post is for you.
