Foxes - Youth

"Don't tell me our youth is running out"

This is another track I've been loving for awhile now but haven't remembered to post. I really do think Foxes is going to be huge in 2014. I mean, we all already know her voice due to her presence on Zedd's ubiquitous Clarity, but her single Youth is even better and hints at a more interesting musical direction. Amidst the Marina & The Diamonds-meets-Lorde indie-pop vocals and production is an anthemic melody and a real ear for what makes pop great. This might not be the track to really break through, but she's got everything she needs for worldwide domination next year. Keep an eye out.

As everyone in the U.S. is heading home for the holidays, I'll be back on Friday! (and using every spare moment I can to prepare for my end of the year countdowns, which I have a feeling are going to be very close this year)

Goldhouse - Feel Good

"Just wanna make you feel good"

I heard this guy on the radio a while go... quite a long while, from the way I remember it. I knew I wanted to post a track by him but then I totally forgot. Better late than never, I guess. Now, Goldhouse's music is the definition of trendy. Soaring dance production, vocoder-warped vocals, and a steady adherence to radio ready pop music. This can be terribly boring if there aren't songs behind all the trendiness, but sometimes something like this--in all its giddy propulsiveness--is just what you're in the mood for. I'm thinking something like Cobra Starship back when they were big. I could see Goldhouse finding a lot of success on U.S. radio in a very similar fashion. Love the hair, too!

The Fooo - Fridays Are Forever

"Let yourselves go"

Continuing my pattern of posting nearly every new track by Swedish band The Fooo, here's their latest single Fridays Are Forever. I really love that, instead of releasing one album and being done with it, these guys are treating us to new songs throughout the year. It kind of reminds me of the Korean music industry, with singles and mini-albums taking precedence over full-lengths. That's not to say I wouldn't love an album full of high quality Scandinavian pop like this, but I also welcome the jolt of energy these guys bring every few weeks. Fridays Are Forever is short and sweet. Most importantly, though, it's POP through and through. No pretense or catering toward trends. Just P.O.P.
