Flashback Friday: Mi-Sex - But You Don't Care

"If there ain't no feelings there I bet he don't care"

Sorry for not posting yesterday. It was one of those instances where the day just gets away from you, and by the time I got home it was already (technically) Friday. I did see a great movie, though. If anyone has the chance to watch The Fall (I think it's on DVD in a few weeks) make sure you do. Stunning, really.
Okay, onto the track for today. Mi-Sex was an Australian punk/new wave group active in the late 70's and early 80's. But You Don't Care was one of ther earliest and most theatrical singles (as evidenced by the fantastic music video) and also one of their catchiest. The band went on to adopt a more mainstream sound that incorporated more electronics as they moved into the 80's. They are a fantastic band that deserve much more global popularity than they got.

Tigercity - Red Lips

"Pretend we don't know what happens at all"

I posted a track by neo-disco act Tigercity awhile back but I don't want you to forget about them. An album is in the works for later this year (I think) and a few months ago they released the excellent Red Lips as a bonus track attached to a magazine's compilation cd. Far from just a bonus track, the song's fast become one of my favorites from the guys. It is definitely very Hall & Oates, as all of the band's material is. I can't wait for the full album, though their excellent EP definitely helps tide me over.

Lady GaGa - Love Games

"I wanna take a ride on your disco stick"

I've been planning on posting this track since last week but the fantabulous Into The Groove beat me to it. I'm still going to post it, though, because Lady GaGa is just that good. if you missed her performance on So You Think You Can Dance, you've got to check it out to see how unique and downright strange this artist is. The best thing, though, is that her excellent single, Just Dance, is actually starting to catch on in America. Could Lady GaGa help turn the tide of US radio?? Let's hope so. Love Games is fantastic, with mentions of the already-legendary "disco stick" (which appeared in the performance) framed as a sleezy come-on that probably won't be getting on any US radio stations.
